Wow, I can hardly believe that I started this blog a year ago. We have had so many adventures, challenges and accomplishments since January 1st. Here is a look back at our top 10 most popular blog post of 2015.

10. A Week in the Life of Unschoolers

Jade showed the other toddlers what it meant to have have free artistic expression. She didn't even bother with the brushes. She went right into the paint with her hands and created her masterpiece...then she proceeded to paint herself. Read more...

9. What If I Acted Like My Toddler

Our daughter fears nothing! She is outgoing and brave. She is always looking for her next adventure. Be it climbing a new tree, or onto a new structure, trying new foods...even if it is a dog biscuit her brother gives her, facing an "enemy" in a battle of swords, or meeting a new friend. She approaches all of these things with a fearlessness that I aspire to. Read more...

8. Back to "School"

This time of year many children are headed back to school! If you are in Public or Private school you are getting your new schedules, supplies, and getting to know your teacher. If you are a Homeschooler you are possibly getting back into a routine and starting on your new curriculum or maybe you school year round. But, if you are an Unschooler, like us, maybe your days look a little different. As Unschoolers our children choose what and how they want to learn. It is a form of child led homeschooling. We do not use a fixed curriculum but instead let our children learn through their interests. This form of homeschooling works for us. Read more...

4. Our A-Book-A-Day Advent Calendar

In years past our kids haven't really bothered much with Advents or the countdowns to Christmas. I've tried several but they never gathered much steam as the month of December counted down. This year, however, is totally different. Since Halloween night there has been a ceaseless question. This question pops up several times per day. I've been scratching my head wondering why the change this year. Perhaps it's because of the age of our children or perhaps it's because of the Christmas Lists they have. Either way, the question I have been hearing everyday is, "How many more days till Christmas?" Read more...

3. The Pressure to be Perfect

Parenting is hard.... there, I said it. Homeschooling is hard.... yes, I said it. Unschooling is hard.... oh yes, I said that too. All of these are hard jobs folks. They are marathons not sprints. It takes years for you to see the outcomes of whatever it is you are doing right now in this moment. Years of tiny little moments adding up and filling this little person you are raising. No pressure. Read more...

2. Why We Homeschool/Unschool

Why do we Homeschool/Unschool? Let me start by saying this. Like everything else in this world, educating your child is a personal choice. No child develops at the same pace or learns in the same way. Each child and family is different. For our family and for our child Homeschooling, and more specifically Unschooling, works best. 1. 10 Things You Need to Know to Homeschool

I never thought someone would come to me and ask, "How do you homeschool? How do you make it all work." But that is exactly what has happened. Several moms new to homeschooling have asked, "How do I get started?" I'm no expert. I am however, an expert on my own children. We've only been doing this homeschool gig since our children were preschool age. So in that time frame, I've learned a few things. Read more...
